A Visit to Sorrento Italy

Sorrento, a small and reputable seaside resort, is a city of lemons, upscale hotels, and cliffs that cross the heart of the historic center. The city’s long-standing popularity is due to its location at the western entrance to Amalfi. It is also on the Pompeii railway line and offers regular fast ferry services to Capri and Naples. Some friends of mine who are Physiotherapists in Edmonton absolutely loved their time in Italy. Thanks to their input, here are some of the best things to see in Sorrento.

Museo Correale di Terranova

East of the city center, this sprawling museum is worth a visit, be you a watch collector, an archaeologist, or sensitive to pottery. In addition to the wide range of Neapolitan crafts from the 16th to 19th centuries (including exceptional examples of marquetry), you will discover European, Chinese, and Japanese pottery, clocks, fans, and artifacts from the ground floor. Among them is a fragment of a medieval Egyptian carving discovered near Sorrento Sedile Dominova.

Chiesa and Chiostro di San Francesco

This church is located next to the park of Villa Comunale and is famous for the peaceful fourteenth-century cloister, which is accessible by a small door in the church. The courtyard has an Arab portico and intertwined arches that are supported by octagonal columns. Filled with bird songs and bougainvillea, they were built on the ruins of a seventh-century monastery. On the top floor of the International School of Photography in Sorrento, the Celentano gallery presents black and white photos of Italian landscapes and Italian life by Raffaele Celentano, a contemporary local photographer.

Basilica di Sant’Antonino

Named after the patron saint of Sorrento, the oldest church in the city hardly resembles an outer church. The interior of the church paints a more ecclesiastical image with its Roman artifacts, its gilded ceiling, its dark medieval paintings, and the uniqueness of two whale ribs in the hallway near the front door. Apparently, the beloved Saint has performed many miracles, including one in which he saved a child from the belly of a whale. The saint’s bones rest under the baroque interior of an eighteenth-century crypt.

Marina Grande

This once isolated fishing village is remarkably separated from the capital and has no hydrofoils or ferries that populate Marina Piccola. It conveys a timeless maritime flair similar to that of Marina Corricella in Procida. Pastel-colored houses and floating fishing boats give character to a neighborhood known for its family-run fish restaurants. Also, the marina protects what is closest to a Spiaggia (beach) in Sorrento.

Centro Storico

A major hub for bars, restaurants, and shops, Corso Italia, recently pedestrianized, is the main artery pulling from east to west via the busy Centro Storico. Dive into the side streets in the north and you will find narrow alleys flanked by traditional buildings with green shutters, interspersed with the palace, church, and piazza.

What To See In Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is undeniably cool, underrated, and handsome. This artsy and fun town is built on bourbon and sports icons (it is home to the Louisville Slugger baseball bat, and the Kentucky Derby, and Mohammed Ali’s birthplace). Today, it has evolved into one of the most foodie-centric cities in the South and a fascinating place to eat. Here are the top attractions in Louisville, Kentucky.

Muhammad Ali Center
This museum tells the tale of the most famous native in the city: a boxer nicknamed The Greatest or simply the Louisville Lip. Among the interactive exhibits in the Muhammad Ali Center include a punching bag where you can practice your rhythm and a wing where visitors can shadowbox with Ali. Videos of his street poetry and famous fights captivate, but it is the way out in context with the civil right issues and the Vietnam War that he fought for that give the museum its power.

Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory
At the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, you will see how the most famous bat in baseball is made. Since 1884, the Louisville Slugger has been manufactured by Hillerich & Bradsby Co. highlights of a tour to this museum include a visit to the baseball memorabilia hall that features the 1927 record-setting bat of Babe Ruth and the 700th home run bat of Hank Aaron. Diehard fans will be blown by the displays here.

Speed Art Museum
Built in 1927 and renovated in recent years, Speed Art Museum is a beautiful juxtaposition of contemporary and classic. It is highlighted by the stacked concrete exterior by Kulapat Yantrasast, a Thai architect and the Grand Atrium by Spencer Finch. Collection highlights include a 40-year-old woman and Barack Obama tapestry. Likewise impressive is the collection of Kentucky’s decorative arts. Also, there is an art-house and a café on site.

Evan Williams Bourbon Experience
Evan Williams is Whiskey Row’s first-ever distillery, and it doesn’t disappoint with its multimedia show. Exhibits at this distillery will take you back to the late 16th century when bourbon-making started. The 1-hour traditional tasting and tour run on weekdays every half hour and 20 minutes during the weekend.

Old Forester Distilling Co
Although this facility only opened in 2018, Old Forester itself has been around since the 17th-century. The distillery allows you to view the complete scope of bourbon production right from the fermentation process and barrel making to maturation and finally bottling. The 1-hour tour covers 3 levels in the property and ends with a sit-down tasting.

How To Keep Your Travel Backpack in One Piece

Have you ever bought a brand new travel backpack and noticed that it became dirty or stained just a few weeks later? For those of you out there who cannot really cope with the loss of that new luggage look, we are more than happy to inform you that not everything is as bad as you may think when it comes to situations like these. This is because there are some things that you can do to protect your travel backpack or rolling suitcase so that it looks and smells almost the same as it did when it first left the store shelf. Cleaning your luggage on a regular basis is very important if you want it to look and smell good. If you don’t do this, dirt will contribute to the destruction of the backpack, which means that it will become worn out more quickly. That being said, here are some things that you can do to make your travel backpack or rolling suitcase look and smell good!

Avoid the Washing Machine
This one seems pretty obvious, doesn’t it? While it may seem obvious to you, we have still decided to include it, just in case someone decides to throw their travel backpack into their washing machine. With that said, avoid putting your travel backpack in your washing machine at all times – unless the care tag on your backpack tells you to do so. Also, don’t forget to remove dirt and sand from the zippers. By doing this, you allow them to continue to work as they should.

Position It Carefully
Folding a bag in an odd way might cause it to become misshapen. What this means is that it might not function correctly anymore. Don’t stick your suitcase underneath sharp objects that may cause damage to it.

Keep Your Pets Away From Your Backpack
Your pets can scratch your travel backpack with their claws. What you need to do is place your backpack behind a locked door. Another thing that you can do is put your backpack on a shelf that your pets cannot reach. The main point here is that you need to keep your pets away from your travel backpack at all times.
